5 best (and healthy) snacks to keep in your office desk

We’ve all been there, 3pm strikes and you’re faced with that energy slump so you instantly reach for the office cookie jar… It’s just convenient right? Well, stop right there and step away from the cookie jar! That sugary treat isn’t doing your health or concentration any good. So we’ve compiled a list of the 5 best, healthy AND convenient snacks to keep in your office draw to have on hand when the 3pm hunger strikes!

1. Seeds/Trail mix
Think almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds mixed with some dried fruit like goji berries, dates or raisins & maybe even add in a piece of dark chocolate (or two)! The protein and healthy fats will keep your sugar cravings at bay, keep you full and satisfied until dinner and give you the energy you need to maintain concentration for the rest of the afternoon.

2. Plain popcorn
Low in calories and just plain yummy! It’s so easy to find in snack size packages in the supermarket. So pop a few of these in your draw for a quick and convenient afternoon snack!

3. Peanut butter
Because who doesn’t love peanut butter? Keep a jar in your draw and smear on some corn thins or sliced apple, or even better, simply enjoy a tablespoon right out of the jar when you feel those sugar cravings coming on! Just make sure it’s a good quality peanut butter with no added sugars or salt – we love Mayver’s or Pic’s Peanut Butter!

4. Dark chocolate
2-3 pieces of good quality dark chocolate is perfect for curing those 3pm sweet cravings! It’s good for the mind and good for the soul, so you can’t go wrong!

5. Brown rice cakes or corn thins
Keep a packet of brown rice cakes or corn thins in your draw – enjoy plain or spread on some nut butter, avocado or hummus for an extra tasty and satisfying afternoon snack!
